c.1957 Duro, Atomic Bank in Original Box

Superb mint in box example of Duro's, Atomic Bank complete with original coin trap, key, and box. Constructed from die cast metal, several versions of this mechanical bank were produced from the mid to late 1950's. They were typically given away by banks in exchange for opening a new customer account. This particular toy has never been used.

Using a classic mechanical bank spring shooting mechanism, a coin is placed on the cannon once the firing pin has been drawn back. Squeeze the trigger located in the base of the cannon and it shoots the coin through the slot into the Atomic Bank. The spring mechanism works beautifully, however I didn't try the toy because it might get scratched or nicked.

The toy includes its original coin trap and the (often lost) original Duro key.

The scarce box is all printed text. Directions, the name of the toy, manufacture, and manufacturer address were printed on both main box panels. It's complete with all eight original endflaps.

Size: 8¼" long x 3¾" tall.
